Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the health and lives of women in South Texas through patient centered care. We strive to provide all aspects of complete women’s healthcare, ranging from midwifery pregnancy services to advanced pelvic surgery.
We maintain hospital privileges at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, Edinburg Regional Medical Center, and McAllen Medical Center.

Meet Our Doctors
Padraic Chisholm
MD, FACOG
Dr. Chisholm is known for his calm bedside manner and down-to-earth style. He is a big advocate for patient autonomy and self-determination. His approach to medicine focuses on communication with patients, including taking time to fully listen. He aims to ensure each patient understands their diagnosis and is confident with the treatment plan.
Dr. Chisholm joined the Women’s Clinic of South Texas in 2017 and in 2019 he took over the practice. Dr. Chisholm is from Alpharetta, Georgia. He graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2008 with a BS in Mathematics. He attended the Medical College of Georgia and received his MD in 2013. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Like his predecessor and mentor, Dr. Martinez, he shares the same philosophy that the women of the Valley deserve access to the latest advancements in Medicine. Dr. Chisholm continues the same tradition of introducing advanced medical technologies to the Valley, including Laparoendoscopic Single Site Surgery (LESS) and the Remeex adjustable anti-incontinence sling. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery for uterine fibroids, bladder prolapse, incontinence, and hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Chisholm also gets great joy in practicing Obstetrics and offers the full scope of prenatal care.
Dr. Chisholm teaches residents and medical students from UTRGV School of Medicine at DHR. He has won two awards for outstanding contributions to resident education in Gynecology (2019) and Obstetrics (2018). He enjoys woodworking, piano, and playing with his two daughters.
Sandra Spano-Rodriguez
CNM, DNP, LNC
Dr. Sandra Anne Spano-Rodriguez is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. She was born and raised in Albany, New York and was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Nurse Corps for 4 years prior to moving to the Rio Grande Valley in 1996. Dr. Rodriguez graduated from the Parkland School of Nurse Midwifery in 1999 and received her Doctorate in 2016 from Maryville University. She has worked as a nurse paralegal, faculty instructor/Assistant Chair, and CNM in the Valley.
Dr. Rodriguez (a.k.a. Dr. Sandra) specializes in low risk Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Primary Care. She is known for her calm and caring presence and takes great care to make every birth experience safe and joyful. Dr. Sandra has two boys- Ricky and Andrew.
Amanda Bahr
Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP)
Amanda Bahr, WHNP, is a certified nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health, and has over 20 years experience as a labor and delivery and women’s triage nurse here in the RGV. She graduated from STC with her RN degree, and from Regis College in Boston with her degree as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She is passionate about women’s health across the life-span. She takes special interest in managing PCOS and menopause, and utilizes a holistic, functional approach to health care, helping women become their healthiest selves. Amanda is certified in obstetrics and loves to help manage pregnancies. She is passionate about learning and is pursing certification as a functional medicine provider.
Amanda was born in Wisconsin, but has lived in the RGV since she was a child. She has embraced the rich, diverse culture of the area and is proud to call this her home. She is fluent in Spanish, married, has 3 boys, and several rescue dogs. In her free time she enjoys exercising, traveling, serving in church, and spending time with her family and fur-babies.
